Memorial Service for T.S.M.V Kaitawa

A memorial service will be held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the collier MV Kaitawa off Cape Reinga on 23 May 1966 with the loss of all 29 crew members, one of New Zealand’s worst maritime disasters.

A memo­r­i­al ser­vice will be held to com­mem­o­rate the 50th anniver­sary of the sink­ing of the col­lier MV Kaitawa off Cape Rein­ga on 23 May 1966 with the loss of all 29 crew mem­bers, one of New Zealand’s worst mar­itime dis­as­ters.

The ser­vice is to be held at the Auck­land Sea­far­ers Cen­tre, 114 Quay Street, 23 May 2016 at 11:00am

Mem­bers past and present, and friends, are wel­come to join your com­rades at the Mar­itime Union of New Zealand Auck­land office at 29–31 Anzac Ave at 10:30am to join togeth­er and make our way down to the memo­r­i­al ser­vice and lay a wreath com­mem­o­rat­ing our lost com­rades.
