War on the Wharves 8 – 2 September 2023, Hawaii

Since 2014 MUNZ and the MUA have had char­i­ty box­ing events on both sides of the Tas­man to raise mon­ey for char­i­ty.

As an exten­sion of this both MUNZ and MUA (MUNZA) are tak­ing a com­bined box­ing team to Hawaii to take on ILWU Local 142 in a char­i­ty box­ing event in the true spir­it of inter­na­tion­al sol­i­dar­i­ty.

In 2019 ILWU Local 142 were con­tact­ed to ask if they would be inter­est­ed in a char­i­ty fight night between MUNZA and Local 142. In 2020 an invi­ta­tion was sent to MUNZ and MUA for WOTW7 in Hawaii 2020.

Unfor­tu­nate­ly, Covid arrived, and the rest is his­to­ry until now!

Train­ing has start­ed and trav­el arrange­ments are being made and on Sat­ur­day 2 Sep­tem­ber 2023 his­to­ry will be made by the rank-and-file mem­bers from MUNZ and MUA rep­re­sent­ing our unions as MUNZA along with rank-and-file mem­bers from ILWU Local 142 togeth­er we will have the first Pacif­ic char­i­ty fight night.
